Swissport UK&I are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Cargo Administrator to join our Cargo team. This is a primarily office-based role, focused on cargo administration and supporting the day-to-day operation. There may also be occasions where you are required to assist with light warehouse duties, depending on operational requirements.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Completing cargo administration tasks, including customs documentation, invoicing and data entry.
- Maintaining accurate records and processing cargo-related documentation.
- Providing reception and basic customer service support when required.
- Liaising with colleagues and supporting the wider cargo operation.
- Assisting with light warehouse duties when operationally required.
- Providing cover for other team members during periods of annual leave or absence, where required.
- Following company procedures, safety standards and airport security requirements.
This is primarily an office-based position, with some light warehouse work and occasional team cover when required. Full flexibility is required to work early and late shifts, Monday to Friday, depending on operational requirements. Additional hours may also be available when providing cover for colleagues.
Pay: £26,422.50 per year (£13.55 per hour)
Interviews will be held remotely on Wednesday 26 August and Saturday 29 August, on an invite-only basis.
Day to day you will be responsible for:
- Loading and unloading air cargo onto vehicles and storage area.
- Ensuring paperwork related to the cargo is correct.
- Assuring proper handling and delivery of cargo and operation of related equipment.
- Following Dangerous Goods Requirements and Regulations.
- Delivering air cargo to appropriate recipient if required.
- Providing special handling of live animals as required.
- Reporting all equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor/manager.
- Complying with all relevant legislation and airport authority and carrier security requirements.
- Complying with Swissport Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Maintaining the highest standards of safety and security at all times.
- Basic Customs Clearance Process.
- Cash Invoicing.
- Acceptance of high value goods such as radioactive goods, live animals or dangerous cargo.
- Reception duties including but not limited to greeting clients and visitors, answering telephone queries, sorting post, filing etc.
- Operating any necessary machinery.
- Light warehouse duties when required.
To be successful in this role you will need to be or have:
- Fully Flexible to work a variety of shifts (days, evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays).
- Ability to speak and understand the English language.
- Ability to travel to the airport at times where public transport is not available.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Must be IT literate and able to learn airline specific computer systems.
- Ability to follow processes and procedures and apply flexible approach when required.
- Willingness to work in inclement weather if required.
- Able to demonstrate good customer service.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Able to work in a manual environment and repeatedly lift up to 32kg throughout a shift.
- Able to work as a team in a fast paced environment.
- A full driving licence.
- Previous experience working in an aviation environment desirable.
