The Airside Transport Supervisor is a key operational position within Swissport UK&I Station Structures reporting to the Swissport Station Manager or Head of Department and will be responsible for all daily operations and operational delivery at the airport.

Day to day you will be responsible for motivating and engaging staff to ensure delivery of customer airlines targets while complying with all company and customer procedures, policies and brand values. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, profitable, high-quality performance in accordance with customer expectations, corporate objectives, strategy and plans. You will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to staff across a diverse workforce. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational excellence of the Swissport Team’s across the station.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Leader
    • Ensure all employees comply with company rules, procedures, and relevant authority requirements, including Health & Safety guidelines.
    • Ensure all people management practices, procedures, and processes are implemented consistently across the station.
    • Implement and monitor the local emergency plan.
    • Use active supervision to influence employee behaviour and promote a positive safety culture.
    • Manage station attendance and absenteeism in line with station cost-control measures.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management
    • Establish strong leadership with supervisory staff through excellent communication and by maintaining a positive working environment.
    • Manage teams and oversee people management processes.
    • Participate in internal and external meetings as required.
    • Resolve conflicts and irregularities, taking appropriate action where necessary.
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with Trade Union Representatives and employee representatives.
  • Quality Focus, Service Delivery & Operational Efficiency
    • Ensure efficient resource planning, including manpower and equipment.
    • Manage and coordinate operations with station management teams to ensure the required resources are available to consistently deliver high standards.
    • Monitor and control performance KPIs relating to airside activities.
    • Ensure administrative and control policies and procedures are maintained, including the time and attendance system and operational audits.
    • Provide guidance and assistance to the Duty Allocator where required.
    • Ensure safety incidents are reported efficiently and in line with business expectations.
  • Relationship Builder
    • Build strong, trusted relationships across the business, with particular emphasis on the Head of Department peer group and Business Unit Heads.
    • Encourage employees to develop their own business acumen and contribute towards achieving organisational objectives.
    • Maintain close and effective relationships with customers, Trade Unions, Airport Management, and other control authorities and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience depending on size of location.
  • Proven experience gained in either Cargo, Aviation, Ground Handling or similar industry.
  • Ability to allocate and manage manpower/resources.
  • Good working knowledge of Aviation Operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative is key.
  • Full Clean Driving License.
