GSE/HGV Skilled Technician – Birmingham Airport
Contract: Permanent
Salary up to £45,900.00 per annum depending upon experience.
About the Role
We’re on the lookout for a skilled and driven technician to join our Ground Service Equipment (GSE) team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of GSE vehicles and machinery. You’ll carry out preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and ensure all inspection findings are accurately logged in our fleet management system. Flexibility is key, as occasional out-of-hours support may be required.

What we're looking for?
- We’re seeking someone who brings technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and a passion for problem-solving.
- Ideal candidates will have:
- A recognised qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
- At least 1 year of post-apprenticeship experience
- Background in HGV or plant maintenance
- Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and fault-finding skills
- Familiarity with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Ability to perform safety inspections and routine servicing
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn
- Welding skills (preferred but not essential)
- Own tools and readiness to work in all weather conditions
- Willingness to travel for training or support at other Swissport stations
- Ability to pass DBS security checks
- A full, valid UK driving licence
