The Engineering & Construction (E&C) portfolio at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is managed globally by two Level 2 Portfolio Owners: one responsible for the Americas and one for the Rest of the World. Both roles report directly to the Global Head of Engineering & Construction.
Key Responsibilities- Represent Swiss Re Corporate Solutions at senior levels with key brokers, clients, and industry conferences, building and maintaining high‑value external relationships.
- Co‑define and execute the Global E&C portfolio strategy and vision, with a clear focus on driving profitable and sustainable growth.
- Develop and maintain portfolio plans – including business plans, growth targets, and capacity allocation – ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and risk appetite; track delivery against plan and adapt as market conditions evolve.
- Monitor and manage portfolio composition, performance trends, and exposure concentrations; propose and implement corrective actions where needed.
- Act as senior technical authority on complex underwriting decisions and emerging risk topics across the engineering and construction landscape.
- Drive the development of new solutions to address evolving client needs in the engineering, construction, and renewable energy sectors.
- Present financials and strategic topics to senior management on a regular basis, communicating portfolio performance with clarity and confidence.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting standards, risk governance frameworks, and portfolio controls across all Market Units in scope.

Qualifications- University degree in an engineering discipline (civil, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering) or comparable qualification, with a strong affinity for the engineering and construction industry.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering underwriting experience with a primary insurance or reinsurance company, including demonstrated expertise in complex risk assessment.
- Fluency in English, with a strong command of international Engineering & Construction policies, wordings, and contractual frameworks.
- Strong experience in data analytics and portfolio steering, with the ability to translate data insights into decisive strategic actions.
- Proven commercial and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders in an international context.
- Significant experience in underwriting Renewable Energy, with a strong preference for expertise in underwriting off‑shore Renewables.
- MBA or postgraduate degree in economics, finance, or business administration.
- Broad global network with corporate clients and brokers in the E&C or renewable energy space.
- Experience working with international, cross‑functional teams and experience managing insurance portfolios.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
CompensationFor London the annual base salary range for this position is between GBP 172,000 and GBP 258,000 for a full‑time role. The specific salary offered considers:
- The requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role.
- The applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance‑based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements.
