We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team of Pricing Actuaries as the Lead Actuary Engineering. You will be part of the Actuarial Portfolio Management (APM) unit and you will be reporting to the APM Head of Property & Specialty (P&S). The successful candidate will lead the team of actuaries situated in our central European locations and Bangalore. You and your team are primarily responsible for maintaining actuarial pricing models and development of portfolio management strategies for Engineering underwriting portfolios which are key portfolios for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pricing model development: Lead development and calibration of pricing models and parameters corresponding to Engineering products to accurately reflect the latest experience, portfolio mix, Terms & Conditions, and trends. Work with our technology teams to implement these models and parameters in UW tools to aid underwriting decision making.
- Team management and APM P&S leadership: Manage a diverse team of actuaries and portfolio experts, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback. As a member of the APM P&S leadership team, you shall actively contribute to the leadership, stakeholder management, and future strategy of P&S portfolios.
- Analytics driven decision making: Develop your own view on portfolio profitability reflecting the latest market dynamics, premium rate, and loss experience.
- Portfolio management discipline: Drive portfolio management discipline across Engineering portfolios, ensuring that portfolios have a long-term strategy, detailed business plan, monitoring framework, and capability that responds to the execution of actions, pricing data, market trends, and competitor behaviour. Collaborate with the Head APM P&S to ensure that the application of these principles is in line with other P&S portfolios.
About You
You are likely to be an Actuary with deep Commercial Insurance experience in the Engineering line of business, bringing with you a combination of industry knowledge, business insight, and actuarial technical skills. People leadership is a significant part of the role; therefore, prior exposure or inclination towards it is crucial, considering you will be leading an international team of actuaries. Thought leadership: you are someone who can lead initiatives to take our vision to reality, being an advocate for driving change. Business fluency in English is required. Proficiency in other languages is always welcome but not a must. You communicate clearly and simply - even when dealing with complicated problems and ideas - and you do so both orally and in writing.
