Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers
- Research supplier and product and identify potential suppliers based on project requirements
- Negotiate contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers
- Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing
- Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production
- Maintain supplier database, product specification sheet, buying template, stock master preparation and update tracker
- Review balance orders, study averages and price comparison β imports
- Work closely with the accounts department to ensure contract terms are favourable to the company
- Attend meetings with the design team, management, vendors and suppliers
- Manage, coach and develop high performing purchasing and cost estimating teams that meet agreed objectives and which deliver best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
- Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
- Catalogue and supplier artwork checks
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive experience working in the procurement department in a related field
- Relevant qualification will be an advantage
- Working knowledge of the industry and market conditions
- Strong understanding of imports and negotiation techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
