We are looking for a Site Manager to join our friendly team. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, flexible and reliable and will also be self-motivated. They should be able to prioritise and work to their own initiative to ensure the care and maintenance of the school premises. They will possess high standards of compliance and understand the importance of health and safety. Having a wide range of practical skills will be important in order that minor maintenance tasks can be completed; however, there will also be a need to work and liaise with contractors, cleaners and the school staff, so good interpersonal skills are also required.
The role will involve:
- Being a main key holder for the site including the opening and locking of the school site
- Routine repairs and maintenance tasks
- Working with cleaners, contractors and the school staff
- Being a key part of our friendly and supportive school team
The Site Manager is responsible for a wide range of duties and responsibilities connected with the fabric and grounds of the school. The principal responsibilities are detailed below:
- Be a key holder for the premises and in the event of an emergency, ensure arrangements are in place to respond.
- Act as the lead fire warden during fire evacuations, undertaking drills at appropriate times.
- Carrying out security procedures for school buildings and grounds.
- Opening and closing of school premises, including gates, doors, windows, fire exits, etc., for the purpose of school use, lettings, out of school hours functions, maintenance and emergency services as required.
- Regularly checking the proper operation and function of alarms and fire equipment and ensuring emergency exits are not obstructed.
- Liaising with the emergency services including calling out as required.
- Reporting acts of theft or vandalism to the Headteacher / Business Manager and/or police as necessary.
- Keeping a diary of events and contractor visits and scheduling routine maintenance.
- Completing COSHH and site risk assessments.
- Ensuring Health and Safety compliance across the site.
