We are seeking a Gearbox Fitter to provide support to the gearbox repair department by dismantling & assembling all types of industrial gearboxes whilst providing a detailed inspection report highlighting operational issues with the machine being assessed.

Main Duties:

  • Involvement of day-to-day workshop in relation to quality, H&S and environmental activities.
  • Dismantling of all types of gearboxes producing concise accurate reports for management.
  • Assembling gearboxes accurately so they are ready for installation.
  • Interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and computer-generated programmes.
  • To be able to work under minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work you undertake.
  • Be pro-active in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business.
  • Ensure standard work practices and procedures are being followed.

Experience required:

  • Apprenticeship in associated field or adequate experience.
  • Health & safety, environmental or quality training would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of various types of gearboxes.
  • Ability to work to instruction and on own initiative.
  • Selecting and using a range of measuring and testing equipment to check components are to the required quality and accuracy.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering data.
  • Able to demonstrate problem solving skills to solve and repair issues efficiently and effectively.
