About the role

Are you early in your career and relentlessly competitive? Do you thrive on activity, learning fast, and earning wins through effort and persistence? Are you looking for a role where grit, curiosity, and coachability matter more than years of experience? Swimlane is seeking a Business Development Associate to support our European Business Development Representative (BDR) team. This is a newly created role for high‑potential early‑career talent interested in building a career in B2B enterprise sales within a high‑growth cybersecurity AI company. You will be coached closely by the BDR Manager and senior BDRs, learning how to prospect effectively, qualify opportunities, and create SQLs. This role emphasizes execution excellence: high‑volume, high‑quality outreach; disciplined follow‑up; strong research habits; and continuous improvement. We will teach you the business, the market, and the product. You bring drive, resilience, curiosity, and the ability to apply feedback quickly in a structured, team‑oriented environment. This role is designed as a 6–12 month progression path into a Business Development Representative (BDR) role, based on performance against defined activity, pipeline, and skill development milestones.

What you’ll do

  • Support outbound prospecting across key European markets (e.g., UKI, DACH, Southern Europe, Nordics, Benelux), aligning outreach to regional business norms, languages, and time zones.
  • Execute outbound prospecting activities across email, phone, and social channels, including first‑touch outreach and consistent follow‑up.
  • Conduct account and contact research to support outbound efforts, marketing campaigns, and account‑based initiatives, ensuring accuracy and relevance of prospect data.
  • Execute call blocks, email sequences, and follow‑up tasks with consistency, urgency, and attention to detail.
  • Assist with personalized outreach at scale, meeting preparation, and post‑meeting follow‑up activities.
  • Support campaign‑, event‑, and partner‑driven lead follow‑up, ensuring timely outreach, complete coverage, and accurate tracking.
  • Build, QA, and maintain outbound sequences (email, call, social) under BDR Manager / BDR guidance, including event‑ and campaign‑specific sequences.
  • Maintain strong CRM hygiene, including lead and contact accuracy, activity logging, status updates, and documentation to support accurate pipeline reporting.
  • Support account‑based motions by preparing account lists, validating personas and contacts, monitoring engagement signals, and ensuring priority leads are followed up appropriately.
  • Partner with marketing to drive registration and attendance for webinars, virtual events, and regional field marketing programs, and assist with post‑event execution.
  • Support early‑stage sales processes, including coordination and tracking of required documentation, discovery documentation, and RFP follow‑up.
  • Execute outbound prospecting in compliance with GDPR and regional data privacy regulations, maintaining high standards of data handling and consent awareness.
  • Collaborate across a distributed European team, adapting communication style to different cultural and business norms.
  • Participate in training, pitch practice, call shadowing, and discovery call observation to build foundational sales skills.
  • Support BDR leadership with operational tasks, reporting accuracy, and adherence to defined pipeline and activity standards.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the role evolves to support business needs.

Qualifications

  • 0–12 months of professional experience (sales experience not required).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High energy, competitive drive, and resilience in the face of rejection.
  • Coachability: the ability to accept feedback and apply it quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Curiosity and interest in B2B technology and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated desire and ability to develop foundational sales skills, with the expectation of progression into a full Business Development Representative role.
  • Demonstrated coachability, with the ability to rapidly incorporate feedback and show measurable improvement in activity quality and efficiency.
  • Fluency in English & additional European language(s) (e.g., German, French).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, part‑time, or campus experience in a sales or customer‑facing role.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) or sales engagement platforms.
  • Exposure to SaaS, enterprise software, or cybersecurity concepts.

Additional Requirements
