Reports to: Aquatics Supervisor/Assistant General Manager

Description:

The deck supervisor is a lifeguard on duty. They are responsible for observing and patrolling the pool area, enforcing safety regulations as outlined in American Red Cross Lifeguard standards. Deck supervisors are also responsible for assisting swimmers in and around the pool area as well as swim instructors, as needed. Other duties include: efficiently managing swim class attendance, assisting swimmers from the lobby to the pool area, promptly keeping classes operating as scheduled, minor pool maintenance and upkeep and other duties as outlined by the management staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of customers in the event of an emergency.
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate incident reports.
  • Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high level of customer service.
  • The secondary focus is to guide the swimmers from the lobby to their classes in a timely manner as outlined by management. This will include making sure that the students are properly prepared for swim lessons.
  • Efficiently manage daily class routines without taking away from class safety including: attendance, ribbon changes, swimmer needs, instructor needs and assist customers as necessary.
  • Perform various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Keep and maintain Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Red Cross CPR/AED certification for adult, infant and swimmer.
  • Previous swim instruction experience is required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all lifeguarding pre-requisites to American Red Cross standards.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Meet lifeguarding requirements while working as a deck supervisor.

Uniforms: Deck Supervisors are required to wear SafeSplash uniforms which include a white SafeSplash t-shirt and royal blue shorts. SafeSplash will provide one (1) t-shirt per calendar year per employee. Additional uniforms must be purchased by the employee from SafeSplash at or below cost. The uniform must be maintained in a clean, professional manner. If at any time a supervisor determines an employee's uniform is inappropriate he/she may require the employee to purchase an additional uniform. If at any time a uniform is not being worn during assigned instructing hours a supervisor will ask you to put on your uniform. If no uniform is present you will be required to buy a new uniform or be sent home without pay.

Hours: 3 - 30 hours per week

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and skills
