Swim Wales is entering an exciting and strategically important phase of its development with the appointment of 3 new Non-Executive Directors to our Board.

As the National Governing Body for aquatic sport in Wales, Swim Wales continues to deliver against its ambitious YMLAEN strategy; a long-term vision centred on “Aquatics for Everyone for Life”. With more than half a million people participating in aquatic activity every week across Wales, the organisation continues to strengthen its impact across participation, wellbeing, education, safeguarding, club development and elite performance.

Recent years have seen continued investment into governance modernisation, inclusive participation, performance pathways and collaborative partnerships across the Welsh sporting landscape. Swim Wales is widely recognised for its commitment to safe, accessible and high-performing environments, alongside its ambition to positively influence health, wellbeing and community engagement across Wales.

These appointments will strengthen the Board’s strategic capability, governance resilience, sector representation and long-term leadership capacity. Swim Wales is seeking individuals who can bring independent judgement, constructive challenge and expertise aligned to the evolving needs of the organisation and the wider Welsh sporting landscape. We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strong understanding of governance, accountability, organisational oversight and risk management
  • The ability to provide strategic challenge and collaborative leadership within a Board environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
  • A genuine commitment to integrity, inclusion and high standards of governance and ethical leadership

Swim Wales is particularly seeking expertise across several priority areas, including:

  • Finance, Audit & Commercial Oversight
  • Political Advocacy & External
  • AffairsSafeguarding, Welfare & People Governance
  • Digital & Technology Governance
  • Public Sector & Local Authority Leadership
  • Grassroots Aquatics & Club Development
  • Welsh Language Capability

Additional experience in high-performance sport, organisational transformation, North Wales representation and broader community perspectives would also be highly valued. This represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future direction of aquatics in Wales while supporting an organisation committed to inclusion, innovation and long-term impact.
