Rushmoor Royals SwimmingClub (RRSC), based in North East Hampshire, is looking for an experienced, energetic and inspirational Head Coach to lead and continue to build our successful competitive swimming programme.

Location:Aldershot / Camberley area

RRSC is affiliated to the Swim England South East Region and is the leading Competitive Swimming Club in North Hampshire, covering the areas of Aldershot, Farnborough, Fleet, Camberley and Yateley. Currently, we utilise four pools, including a 50-metre pool.

Our swimmers have competed and succeeded at every level of competitive swimming from County, Regional and National Levels. Weprovidecompetitive opportunities for all ages and abilities. We also have a successful Learn To Swim programme that feeds into the main club.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • (Essential) Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (ASA Level 2 Coaching Award) or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years experience working with Regional Level swimmers or higher and be willing to undertake a Senior Coach Certificate
  • (Desirable) Swim England Senior Swimming Coach Certificate (ASA Level 3 Coaching Award) or equivalent.
  • Undertake coaching of a squad(s)
  • Hold a Swim England safeguarding qualification and be willing to undertake a DBS check if successful.
  • Hold a current and valid UK driving licence.
  • Be a strategic leader with a track record of managing a team of coaches and excellent interpersonal communication skills with a wide range of people from the swimming community.
  • Be highly organised and provide feedback/responses in a timely manner to swimmers, parents, coaches, employees and the executive committee.
  • Have experience in line management, including appraisals, goal setting, identifying and supporting development opportunities and mentoring
  • Be highly motivated and passionate about developing swimmers as people as well as athletes and enabling them to reach their full potential.
  • Understand s and take s pride in their position and role in the pathway and the impact they have on each swimmer’s journey, ensuring that the values of the programme are known and promoted.
  • Be confident in using IT and familiar with MS Word and Excel

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the Club’s swim programme at all levels. Undertake regular liaison with the Head of Academy and Learn to Swim Supervisors to ensure the programme feeds swimmers into the main club. Work closely with our strength and conditioning coaches to ensure delivery is both age-appropriate and relevant to training in the pool.
  • Put in place individual and squad-based performance and coaching programs, including regular review meetings to support the delivery of improved athlete performance.
  • Set and support the annual competition plan for competitive swimmers.
  • Support RRSC’s Executive Committee in their management of the Club by providing regular updates on the Club at committee meetings and supporting the financial health of the Club through prudent management of coach and pool time for all squads.
  • Actively support and develop the coaching team and coach capability. Create an enjoyable environment for the coaching team. Implement regular coach meetings, annual coach performance management and opportunities for coach development via mentoring, delegation or continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities.
  • Keep up-to-date of initiatives within AquaticsGB and Swim England. Assess their implications for the Club, making timely adjustments to the programme as appropriate.
  • Promote team spirit and actively support the Club’s volunteering strategy to help build an engaged and supportive ‘Royals Family’.
