Haringey Aquatics, based in north London, is looking for a highly motivated and inspiring Level 2-qualified diving coach to join our team and help deliver a programme at our facilities at Park Road Pools, London N8. Our programme provides a pathway from beginner to National Skills. The successful candidate will plan and deliver high-quality, enjoyable coaching sessions working across our programme. We are Haringey’s only competitive aquatics club, and provide quality coaching in diving, swimming and water polo for all levels of ability. A friendly, inclusive club, we aim to provide opportunities, through regular training, for each of our members to achieve their full potential. Our experienced, passionate coaches offer a pathway for progression in aquatic sport from novice level through to County, Regional and National competition standards. Haringey Aquatics is proudly affiliated to Swim England through the London Region.
The role: Sessions at Park Road run on Monday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. Core hours will be from 1.5-6 hours per week. The successful candidate’s hours will be agreed with the head coach and include some attendance (paid) at competitions from time to time.
Main responsibilities include:
- Be accountable for the welfare of individual divers and coaching colleagues during training sessions
- Be accountable for the planning, delivery and management of sessions, in conjunction with the Head Coach
- Help deliver the vision of the Head Coach through engaging and progressive training plans
- In conjunction with the coaching and teaching teams, identify, encourage and develop talent across the dive programme
- Monitor, evaluate and provide feedback on individual divers’ progress and set development goals where appropriate
- Provide ongoing feedback to staff and conduct performance appraisals
- Maintain poolside discipline in accordance with our Club’s policies and procedures and with the Swim England Code of Ethics
- Help arrange coaching/teaching cover for our sessions and be available to provide coaching cover when necessary
- Keep abreast of and be willing to implement the latest developments and innovations in dive coaching, updating qualifications as necessary
- Maintain a comprehensive register of attendance
- Be an ambassador for the Club
Candidate attributes:
- Swim England Diving Coach Certificate or Level 2 Award
- Strong knowledge of child safeguarding and welfare procedures (with relevant qualification)
- Strong technical skills and understanding of the discipline of diving
- Excellent interpersonal skills (friendly and engaging)
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to motivate, encourage and inspire divers
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and the committee
- Ability to work closely and constructively with the Head Coach and the committee
- Ability to work and develop relationships with key personnel at training venues
- Ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a team
- Punctuality, reliability and commitment to the Club and its goals
- Enhanced DBS certification will be required
