We’re expanding our team! Team Bath AS, based in Somerset, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Swimming Coach to support the development of our competitive squads at the Sports Training Village at the University.

Location: Sport Training Village, University of Bath and Dragonfly Leisure Midsomer Norton.

Working Hours: The position involves working unsociable hours, including early morning, evening and weekend hours. Ability to provide cover for coaches at short notice is an advantage. The position will include attendance at meets as appropriate in line with the competition calendar.

Remuneration: Dependant on qualifications and experience. Planning and preparation included in the remuneration.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Lead Coach in the delivery of squad training sessions.
  • Write session plans in line with the annual plan for appropriate squads at different levels of swimmer ability.
  • Provide coaching cover for sessions as the Lead Coach.
  • Demonstrate a committed and professional approach to coaching and supporting all swimmers to reach their full potential.
  • Communicate well and in a positive manner with all swimmers and parents.
  • Provide feedback on a swimmer’s progress to the Head of Swimming or other coaches.
  • Support our poolside workforce.
  • Be an ambassador and role model for the club.
  • Follow Health & Safety Procedures, Wavepower, the Code of Conduct for Coaches and Team Bath AS club policies.
  • Be aware and understand the pool’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Normal Operating Procedures (NOP), plus risk assessments and provide timely and comprehensive accident/incident reporting.
  • Represent the club as Swimming Coach at licensed meets, club competitions and league events as appropriate.
  • Undertake suitable continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to update skills and knowledge on a regular basis.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Swim England Swimming Coach certificate or ASA Level 2 Coaching Award / UKCC Certificate in Coaching Swimming or above.
  • Experience and understanding of swimming clubs and competitive swimming programmes.
  • Experience in leading swimming sessions for a variety of abilities and ages.
  • Strong and effective organisational skills to coordinate and organise swimming sessions and programmes and contribute to the club’s broader swimming provision.
  • Ability to lead a safe and effective training session.
  • Will be required to work with persons under 18 years of age (enhanced DBS check with barred check required).
  • Positive approach to athlete welfare and a good understanding of Wavepower.
  • Hold a current Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate, a Swim England Safeguarding certificate or Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics certificate. Team Bath AS can provide information and funding for this 3‑hour course if you are recruited.
