Swiis Foster Care is looking to recruit a passionate and dedicated supervising social worker to join its established service in Birmingham. The post is full time and permanent, suitable for both newly qualified and experienced social workers. There is an attractive annual salary up to £39,000, depending on experience, plus a car allowance of up to £3,400.
The role involves providing intensive support to a small caseload of foster carers and their families to enable them to provide the best quality of care to vulnerable children. You will work in accordance with the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and the Fostering Services National Minimum Standards 2011, providing monthly supervision to a manageable caseload of foster carers, undertaking additional planned and unannounced visits to children in placement, formulating training and development plans for carers, and forging effective working relationships with local authorities.
You will have excellent recording and report writing skills and be IT competent. As well as managing your caseload, you will be part of a duty rota to support the running of the service, both within and outside of normal office hours. There is also an expectation that you will be involved in delivering training to prospective and existing foster carers, with training and development provided to support this aspect of the role.
A good understanding of the needs of looked after children and the challenges they present for foster carers is essential, along with transferable assessment skills. A strong commitment to promoting and safeguarding the well-being of children is required, as well as an appreciation of the demands of working for a high-quality independent fostering service in a competitive environment.

The Supervising Social Worker position is available immediately; it is full time, permanent, with standard office hours covering 9.00 am - 5.30 pm. This role requires evening and occasional weekend work (out of hour allowance paid).
