The opportunity:

You will join the Hardware In The Loop (HWIL) team who conduct dynamic missile firing simulations, utilising real missile hardware in support of product development, performance validation and firing trial preparation. You will have the opportunity to work within a state‑of‑the‑art test and evaluation facility, unique within the UK. The HWIL testing utilises real missile hardware, a missile performance model, flight motion tables (to pitch/roll/yaw the hardware) and RF / IR target generation systems (to represent target(s)). This dynamic testing is controlled by a HWIL developed simulation which runs real‑time. This test and evaluation set‑up allows HWIL to conduct missile testing across many MBDA products in as close to real world scenarios as possible, exercising missile functionalities such as in‑flight performance, target detection, acquisition and homing. Your job role may vary with the lifecycle of the missile products you are supporting. Your overall aim will be to integrate, understand and maintain highly complex simulations, and utilise these to perform missile testing and data analysis – all in support of missile product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand functionality of the missile sub‑systems involved in dynamic HWIL testing.
  • Understand interactions between the missile sub‑systems and bespoke test equipment.
  • Interact with relevant subject matter experts across MBDA missile product teams.
  • Develop real‑time software simulations utilising performance models.
  • Conduct hands‑on testing with real missile hardware and software.
  • Analyse missile telemetry data to understand performance and produce technical reports.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • System integration & interface debugging.
  • Structured approach to problem solving.
  • Real‑time software / simulation design.
  • Testing of sensors or sub‑systems.
  • Experience with Radio Frequency or InfraRed seekers.
  • System performance analysis.
