We are seeking an experienced Security Manager to lead physical security operations across one of our global regions: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. This role is responsible for protecting employees, facilities, and assets while ensuring security programs align with business objectives, regional risk profiles, and global standards. The Security Manager serves as a trusted partner to business leaders, Facilities, HR, Legal, and IT teams, and plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, resilient, and secure work environment across diverse geographies. This position requires strong operational leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in complex, fast‑changing environments. This role requires 4 to 5 days work from our office in Centreville/Reston.
Key Objectives
- Develop and execute regional security strategies aligned with global security and risk management frameworks.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate physical security risks to people, facilities, and operations.
- Lead and manage regional security teams and vendors, ensuring consistent performance and compliance.
- Ensure a high level of incident preparedness, emergency response, and crisis management.
- Promote a strong culture of security awareness and safety across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Security Strategy & Operations
- Implement and maintain regional security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with global requirements.
- Oversee day‑to‑day physical security operations across offices, sites, and facilities within the assigned region.
- Conduct regular security risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify vulnerabilities and drive improvements.
- Manage physical security systems including access control, CCTV, alarms, monitoring platforms, and guard services.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and regional security requirements.
Incident Management & Emergency Response
- Lead investigations into security incidents, breaches, theft, workplace violence, or policy violations.
- Develop, maintain, and test emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity plans.
- Act as a regional escalation point during critical incidents and emergencies.
- Coordinate response efforts with internal stakeholders and external emergency services.
Leadership & Vendor Management
- Recruit, train, and manage regional security personnel and contracted guard forces.
- Set clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability for teams and vendors.
- Manage relationships with security service providers, integrators, and consultants.
- Ensure cost‑effective delivery of security services without compromising standards.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Facilities, HR, Legal, IT, and Workplace teams to integrate security into business operations.
- Support new site openings, office relocations, and workplace design projects.
- Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams on converged security initiatives where applicable.
- Build strong relationships with law enforcement, emergency responders, and local authorities.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Deliver security awareness training and communication programs for employees.
- Promote a proactive, risk‑aware security culture across the region.
- Stay current on emerging threats, geopolitical risks, regulatory changes, and security technologies.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to improve program maturity and effectiveness.
Regional Scope & Focus (Selected at Application)
- EMEA: Focus on operating in highly regulated and geopolitically diverse environments. Emphasis on regulatory compliance, duty of care, and cross‑border coordination. Experience working across Europe, Middle East, and/or Africa strongly preferred.
- Americas: Focus on multi‑site operations across North, Central, and South America. Emphasis on workplace violence prevention, incident response, and vendor‑managed guard services. Regular coordination with local and federal law enforcement agencies.
- APAC: Focus on diverse risk environments, rapid growth, and operational scalability. Emphasis on vendor management across multiple countries and cultures. Experience supporting expansion, greenfield sites, or emerging markets preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in corporate security, law enforcement, military, or related roles.
- Experience managing multi‑site or regional security operations.
- Strong knowledge of physical security systems, incident management, and investigations.
- Proven ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures at scale.
- Demonstrated leadership and people‑management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Willingness to travel regionally and respond during emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, CSM, or equivalent.
- Experience with emergency management, crisis response, and business continuity planning.
- Familiarity with global regulatory environments and regional security risks.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and physical‑cyber convergence.
- Experience supporting executive travel, special events, or elevated‑risk operations.
