Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated
APQP Supplier Quality Lead Engineer to ensure the quality of supplied components and materials, driving continuous improvement within our supply chain.
You will act as a Quality methodology Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities with suppliers, encompassing all five phases: Plan and Define Program, Product Design and Development, Process Design and Development, Product and Process Validation, and Feedback, Assessment & Corrective Action.
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for supplier quality issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to define and improve supplier quality processes.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement improvement plans.
- Support new product introductions by ensuring supplier readiness and component quality.
- Travel approximately 60% of the time to supplier sites, primarily within Europe but occasionally further, for onsite engagement and support.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Sole British citizenship with an ability to obtain national security vetting clearance to
SC level.
- Proven experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with 8D or similar methodologies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Availability for domestic and international travel, mainly within Europe.
- Valid UK Driver's license.
Nice-to-have qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Significant experience in APQP and Supplier Quality within Defence, Aerospace, or other regulated industrial sectors, including familiarity with relevant sector quality standards and experience in stakeholder engagement and communication, such as with government and Mo D interfaces.
This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
