We seek a Sr. Staff Deployment Strategist with deep expertise in the data space — data governance, data catalog, and/or AI concepts — with strong knowledge of the broader data ecosystem, paired with solid industry acumen across target verticals (Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Hospitality and Travel). Drives high‑impact deployments at the intersection of data intelligence, AI, and governance by acting as a credible technologist — fluent enough in AI and governance conversations to earn trust with both business and technical stakeholders.

Core Impact Areas
  • Partner with account teams throughout the sales cycle, acting as the key technical advisor and product advocate.
  • Understand a customer's AI/data architecture and identify where Alation fits and adds value.
  • Lead discovery sessions to surface business and governance challenges.
  • Lead proof‑of‑value (POV) engagements, pilots, and adoption workshops, owning technical scope and driving them to outcomes.
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations, both full‑platform walkthroughs and deep dives into specific product areas, tailored to enterprise stakeholders.
  • Translate AI and platform architecture concepts into terms enterprise stakeholders can act on.
  • Comfortable navigating common data and cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, Azure) well enough to speak credibly to how Alation integrates with a customer's existing stack.
  • Build a defensible, data‑backed value story linking technical capability to business impact, driving evaluations to close.
  • Bring a working governance perspective to conversations where relevant, especially connecting technical work to business outcomes.
  • Partner with account teams to identify expansion opportunities emerging from your work.
What You Bring
  • Experience: 6–8 years in technical delivery, solutions consulting, or forward‑deployed customer‑facing roles at data/AI platform companies.
  • Technical Credibility: Strong understanding of AI technologies, architecture, and the broader ecosystem (LLMs, agent patterns, data platforms). Hands‑on development experience is not required, but you need to be seen as a credible technologist by technical stakeholders.
  • Platform Familiarity: Working knowledge of common enterprise data and cloud platforms — e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, Azure — sufficient to discuss integration points and architecture credibly with customer technical teams.
  • Governance Background (preferred): Prior exposure to data or AI governance concepts, with the ability to translate them into customer value conversations.
  • Customer‑Facing Presence: Proven experience engaging enterprise stakeholders and communicating value to both practitioners and business leaders, whether pre‑ or post‑sale.
  • Problem Solving: Able to translate ambiguous technical and business requirements into a clear plan — whether that plan is an evaluation or a delivery roadmap.
  • Travel: ~15–30% for customer onsite visits.
