A little bit about our team: The Data & Insight team works with the Frontline & Catalogue labels, Commercial & Finance teams on track & artist performance and strategy, partner & competitor performance analysis, market trends, risks & opportunities. As part of a team or solo, the role delivers timely, clear and actionable insight and recommendations.
Your role: Championing data‑led decision making, this position requires a blend of technical expertise, market knowledge, and the ability to translate complex data sets into clear, impactful narratives. You will explore and leverage AI/Generative AI tools to streamline workflow, enhance data visualization, and improve strategic storytelling.
Day to Day:
- Anticipate stakeholder needs and provide data‑driven solutions to support their strategic objectives.
- Visualize KPIs related to artist performance, track consumption, market share, and marketing/promotional effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver tailored presentations to senior management, adapting complexity to the audience, and utilizing Generative AI tools where appropriate.
- Provide insights that inform long‑term strategic planning and shape artist development and marketing strategies.
Dashboard Development & Maintenance:
- Use WMG internal systems such as Opus, Sodatone, Tableau & Snowflake to interpret sales, pre‑order & streaming data.
- Interrogate external partner interfaces from Amazon, Apple, Spotify and YouTube, as well as external websites such as OCC, BPI, Midia & ChartMetric.
- Design, build, and maintain insightful and user‑friendly dashboards that bring together these data sources to provide actionable insights.
- Ensure data accuracy and timely updates of all dashboards.
- Proactively find opportunities to improve existing dashboards and develop new analytical tools, including low‑code/AI‑assisted workflow automations.
Market Analysis:
- Continuously monitor and analyze market trends, competitor performance and consumer behavior.
- Identify shifts in consumption patterns, genre popularity, and emerging opportunities or risks.
- Provide regular reports and presentations on market dynamics.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
- Integrate data‑driven insights on artist streaming & social performance, audience demographics, and potential reach into strategic recommendations.
About you:
- At least 5 years of experience working in a record label, platform, or company affiliated to the music business.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Familiarity with foundational AI/Generative AI concepts (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering) and experience using these tools to optimize data preparation, summarization, and presentation.
- Expert knowledge of Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides, SQL, and dashboarding platforms (Tableau/Looker).
