This role will be based at our Bishops Cleeve site.

The Role

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership for the sustainment and continuous improvement of complex aerospace mechanical products. Working collaboratively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Programmes, you'll ensure products continue to meet demanding performance, reliability and regulatory requirements throughout their lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, influencing technical direction, and balancing quality, cost and delivery within a highly regulated environment.

What will the role involve?

  • Provide expert mechanical engineering support to both internal and external stakeholders throughout the entire product lifecycle, ensuring continued product conformity through technical reviews and adherence to engineering documentation.
  • Assess and approve alternative materials and components to address obsolescence and supply chain challenges, while leading engineering changes through formal ECN processes.
  • Drive redesign and continuous product improvement initiatives, balancing technical performance, quality, cost and delivery requirements.
  • Lead root cause investigations, implement effective corrective actions, and produce high-quality engineering reports, technical documentation and design justifications.
  • Support design reviews, contribute to key technical decisions, and work alongside cross-functional teams to develop effective obsolescence strategies.
  • Mentor and develop graduate and junior engineers, helping to build technical capability and engineering excellence across the team.
