This senior role reports to the Head of Global Rates Production. The role will lead European Rates Production Engineering across Fixed Income and Currencies Technology, working with a local and wider global team to deliver strategic priorities while maintaining accountability for production stability. The role requires senior stakeholder engagement, clear decision-making and the ability to set standards across a global engineering function.

You will be responsible for the operational health of mission-critical Rates trading systems, strengthening Site Reliability Engineering practices across the organisation and partnering with senior business and technology managers to improve architecture, automation, resilience and incident management capabilities.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Lead production stability across the Rates business in Europe, aligning engineering priorities with business objectives, regulatory expectations and platform resilience goals.
  • Embed modern Site Reliability Engineering principles and support the move from reactive support to a proactive, data-determined and automation-led engineering model.
  • Strengthen platform robustness by reviewing architecture, contributing to tooling strategy and setting clear standards for incident response, post-incident evaluation and risk reduction.
  • Act as a senior partner to the Head of Rates Trading, Rates desk heads, technology executives and adjacent business stakeholders, supporting transparency, aligned priorities and shared accountability for platform performance and health.
  • Develop, mentor and scale a global team aligned to Site Reliability Engineering principles, promoting ownership, technical quality, curiosity and continuous improvement.

Your skills and experience:

  • Leadership experience managing Site Reliability Engineering or Production Engineering functions in complex, high-availability, real-time environments, ideally within capital markets.
  • Experience working in a trading environment, with knowledge of pricing, trade capture, market data flows and fixed income products; exposure to Foreign Exchange, algorithmic trading or electronic trading is advantageous.
  • Strong experience in incident management, post-mortem practices, problem management and change governance, ideally within regulated financial environments.
  • Advanced technical capability across Linux or Unix systems, Structured Query Language and programming in languages such as C++, Java or Python, with a strong understanding of distributed systems and low-latency architecture.
  • Experience with observability and telemetry platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Geneos or Open Telemetry, alongside infrastructure automation tooling including Ansible and Terraform and Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery pipelines.
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments, containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, and modern deployment methodologies.
