This role sits within the Basecamp Technology group, providing specialised engineering capabilities and scalable components to our Research and Trade Technology groups. You will design, build and operate solutions that improve developer and research experience across the organisation. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the strategy, design and delivery of critical engineering and research‑facing systems. You will guide and grow a team of talented engineers working closely with stakeholders to build out our best‑in‑class tooling. You will play a key role in building an in‑house storage platform, reducing reliance on external vendors and improving cost efficiency, performance and research capability. You will lead a high impact team delivering a phased roadmap from data orchestration and tiering to a fully productionised storage platform.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Leading strategy, design, delivery and operations

- Storage abstraction layer
- Tiering and data orchestration tooling
- In‑house storage platform design and rollout
- Driving continuous optimisation, reliability and performance improvements across distributed systems

- Proven ability to lead strategy, design, delivery and operations for large‑scale infrastructure
- Experience managing and developing high‑performing engineering teams
- Strong track record owning end‑to‑end delivery of complex, multi‑phase initiatives
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability
- Experience driving continuous optimisation and performance improvements in production environments
