DESCRIPTION
We seek an Automation Engineer III to maintain and optimize our technology infrastructure.
You'll work with advanced systems and contribute to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
This position offers opportunities to work with enterprise-level systems, implement innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvement across our infrastructure.
You’ll design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure systems, develop automation solutions, and ensure high availability of services.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust technical solutions while maintaining security and compliance standards.
This role combines hands‑on technical work with strategic thinking to support our organization's lights‑out transformation initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Key Qualifications
- Evaluate and test new Automation technologies, including experience with laboratory automation robotics, liquid handlers, optical readers, labelers and cappers, and standard laboratory devices across various applications.
- Proficiency in VBScript and Python languages.
- Conduct hardware integration and end‑to‑end testing.
- Draft detailed requirements and collaborate with vendor automation houses on proposals for custom automation.
- Lead mechanical projects with cross‑functional teams through integration into manufacturing.
- Be able to learn and develop manufacturing fluidic methods using platforms such as Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman, Agilent, and similar liquid handling systems.
- Assess liquid handling/hardware to integrate off‑the‑shelf and custom instrumentation into manufacturing/quality control processes.
- Provide technical guidance for filling automation applications within cross‑functional teams.
- Create test plans with clearly stated requirements and specifications.
- Analyze data and effectively communicate results within a team environment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering‑related field.
Experience
- Preferred 3+ years of experience in developing custom automation and fluidic methods on Hamilton/Tecan/Bravo systems.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong mechanical design skills coupled with process engineering knowledge.
- Proficiency in VBScript/C/C++/Python languages.
- Competence in Mechanical Design software (Autocad, Solid Works, etc.).
- Experience in fluidic principles and testing methodologies for fluidics.
- Experience with Hamilton, Beckman, and Tecan Liquid Handlers is desirable.
- Database experience is a plus.
- Strong bench skills and experimental design capabilities are required.
