The Standards Specialist will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and promoting SWIFT's global messaging standards, ensuring their integrity, interoperability, and adoption within the financial industry.

What to Expect

  • Research, analyze, and interpret complex financial industry requirements and regulatory landscapes to inform the evolution of Swift standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, member institutions, and industry working groups to define and develop new messaging standards and update existing ones.
  • Draft, review, and refine technical specifications, implementation guidelines, and documentation for Swift standards.
  • Conduct impact assessments of proposed standard changes on SWIFT products, services, and the wider financial community.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Swift standards, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external customers.
  • Participate in industry forums, conferences, and committees to represent Swift's perspective on financial messaging standards.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training materials and presentations related to Swift standards.
  • Monitor and analyze the adoption and usage of Swift standards, identifying areas for improvement and future development.
  • Ensure adherence to established governance processes for standards development and maintenance.

What will make you successful

  • Minimum of 2 years of business experience in Payments, Securities, Foreign Exchange or Trade Finance, with a strong understanding of financial messaging.
  • Proven experience in standards development, technical specification writing, or business analysis within a technical domain.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, international team.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard methodologies for standards development and lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in English is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Swift messaging standards (e.g., MT, MX, ISO 20022).
  • Knowledge of other languages.
