About the Squad: The AI and Transaction Data Governance squad owns governance practices for AI and Transaction Data and builds literacy across Swift to equip the organisation for safe, effective AI adoption and Transaction Data use. The team leads AI literacy efforts alongside running AI and Transaction Data governance frameworks and managing the data catalogue. The outcome is greater clarity, reduced risk, and increased trust in how AI and Transaction Data are used across Swift.
As an AI Governance Senior Lead, you will work alongside a small team, to shape and drive the organisation’s AI governance agenda, translating strategic priorities into delivery across multiple teams. You will lead high-impact initiatives that shape how the organisation adopts and governs AI, setting direction in ambiguous areas and turning complexity into clear, practical outcomes that enable innovation with confidence.
Key Responsibilities:- Strategic Leadership: Define and evolve the AI governance direction, setting priorities and shaping the scope of major initiatives in line with regulatory, control, and business needs.
- Complex Delivery: Work closely with business use case owners across a broad and sometimes ambiguous scope, supporting them to manage dependencies, priorities, and risks across teams to maintain momentum and quality.
- Cross-Team Alignment: Drive alignment across product, data science, engineering, legal, compliance, security, and risk teams, to foster a culture of AI excellence and responsible innovation.
- Quality and Standards: Strengthen governance quality beyond your own work by improving standards, frameworks, and review practices that support consistent and scalable delivery. Influence cross-team practices, governance maturity, and organisational readiness.
- Capability Building: Build team capability by coaching others, strengthening collaboration, and creating the conditions for more effective delivery across the wider team.
- Accountability and Resolution: Hold stakeholders accountable for agreed actions, surface delivery risks early, and help resolve conflicts or blockers that affect team outcomes.
- Ethical AI: Promote ethical AI principles and ensure that AI systems are designed and used in a fair, transparent, and accountable manner.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Establish effective monitoring and reporting mechanisms to track AI usage, performance, and compliance with governance standards.
- External Engagement: Represent Swift in industry forums and collaborate with external experts to stay updated on the latest AI trends and best practices.
- Demonstrates a track record of delivering meaningful outcomes within AI governance while also helping define that governance in complex or evolving environments.
- Effectively manages cross-team dependencies, priorities, and risks, and contributes to improving quality standards beyond their own direct work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, training sessions, and strategic discussions.
