This position is being advertised by Swift Temps Ltd, trading as an Employment Agency. We are seeking an experienced Timber Operative to join our rural client on a long term, temp to perm basis within a construction production environment.
This role involves working on a variety of tasks relating to the manufacture of timber frames as part of a small team working Monday to Thursday 7am to 4.15pm and Fridays 7am to 1.30pm. Own transport is essential due to the rural location of the factory as well as traceable employment history handling timber, measuring and using saws. This is an ideal job for someone with basic carpentry, joinery and roof truss assembly employment history.
Pay
Starting rate: £12.21 p.h without valid FLT license and £12.70 with a valid FLT license; paid weekly by Swift Temp Ltd, with wages paid monthly once a permanent contract has been issued after 12 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Assembly of building components using hand tools and power tools
- Performing accrual measurements, converting measurements when required (from imperial to metric)
- Supporting roofing projects through reading and understanding structure and engineering drawings
- Conducting frames under supervision, adhering to safety standards
- Handling heavy lifting and moving materials safely around the factory
- Using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment efficiently such as industrial circle saw machines to cut timber safely
- Transport and load deliveries and finished goods in yard and onto lorries
- Collaborating with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Requirements
- Own transport in the form of a reliable car or motor vehicle due to rural location of site
- Long term availability, this role will lead to a permanent job
- Previous experience handling timber in a production/manufacturing environment
- Timber assembly, or timber construction-related experience is essential
- FLT License desirable
- Proven track record using carpentry hand and power tools
- Ability to follow safety protocols diligently and work in a physically demanding environment
