An established engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced People & HR Advisor to provide professional HR support across the organisation. This is a broad, hands-on role covering employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, attendance, performance management, training, HR administration and compliance.

Working closely with senior management, you will act as a trusted HR adviser, supporting managers while ensuring HR processes remain fair, consistent and compliant with UK employment legislation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide HR advice and guidance to managers
  • Support disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters
  • Coordinate recruitment, interviews, onboarding and probation reviews
  • Prepare contracts, amendments and other HR documentation
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
  • Monitor sickness absence and support return-to-work processes
  • Coordinate training and maintain competency records
  • Support appraisals and performance improvement plans
  • Review and maintain HR policies and procedures
  • Support HR compliance and internal audits
  • Assist with employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives
  • Produce HR reports including headcount, absence, turnover, recruitment and training data

What we are looking for:

  • Strong generalist HR experience
  • Good knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience managing employee relations matters
  • Recruitment and onboarding experience
  • Confidence advising managers and senior leaders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters professionally
  • Good Microsoft Office and HR/ERP system skills
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or SME environment would be advantageous

Qualifications:

  • CIPD Level 5 desirable
  • CIPD Level 7 advantageous
  • HR, Business Management or similar qualification desirable
