The Role
As an Electrical Fitter you will work as part of a collaborative team to deliver high-quality assemblies, equipment, and solutions that meet our customers' exacting standards. You will follow engineering specifications, adhere to health and safety requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement across the business. This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills, progress your career, and play a meaningful part in the company's continued success.
Technical Duties & Responsibilities
- Electrical Assembly & Installation
- Cut, drill, deburr and prepare electrical containment (such as trunking, tray and conduit)
- Install electrical containment systems in line with drawings
- Carry out basic mechanical preparation to support electrical installation
- Install electrical components and assemblies under supervision
- Wiring & Termination
- Assist with panel wiring under supervision, including:
- Control circuits
- Low and high voltage circuits
- Motors, plugs and sockets
- Prepare and terminate cables, including multicore and screened cables
- Carry out crimping and soldering tasks using approved tools and methods
- Dress cables neatly and fit identification labels correctly
- Support earthing and bonding activities under supervision
- Drawings, Quality & Documentation
- Work from electrical drawings and wiring diagrams (with support where required)
- Understand common electrical symbols
- Complete job documentation accurately using company systems
- Follow approved engineering change and quality processes
- Maintenance & Support
- Assist with electrical fault finding and basic maintenance activities
- Support electrical checks during machine build and handover
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area in line with 5S standards
- Learning & Development
- Develop knowledge of the equipment and systems through hands-on experience and training
- Learn different product lines over time as skills develop
- Take part in training, mentoring and continuous improvement activities
- Support new starters and apprentices when appropriate
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Ability to follow engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- A proactive, positive attitude with a willingness to learn
- Good communication skills and a team-focused mindset
Full training will be provided on equipment and systems. Previous experience in electrical assembly or manufacturing environments is beneficial, but product-specific knowledge is not essential.
