Swift Temps is proud to be recruiting for a Quality Manager for a permanent position based in Yorkshire in the animal feed sector. Our client is seeking a Quality Manager to join their team at their Yorkshire site. This site-based role will see you take ownership of quality systems and standards, ensuring compliance with industry, customer, and legislative requirements while driving continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will have experience in quality management within the feed or food industry, including HACCP, Root Cause Analysis, and quality management systems. You will be responsible for managing audits, quality control processes, and supporting production teams in maintaining the highest quality standards across the site.
Responsibilities:
- Quality Audits - Internal and External
- Ensure full compliance for all external and customer audits at our Yorkshire site.
- Manage and improve the company’s QMS aligned with FEMAS, UFAS, VMD, Soil Association, Tesco, and feed hygiene standards.
- Liaise with certification bodies to maintain strong working relationships.
- Establish and maintain an internal audit schedule, ensuring timely completion.
- Oversee site compliance with SOPs, and feed safety regulations.
- Conduct regular and random quality process audits.
- Ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Quality Control
- Manage QC staff to meet statutory and assurance scheme requirements.
- Maintain and operate the NIR testing facility.
- Establish and maintain a QC Plan to monitor and analyse hazards and quality testing.
- Implement trend analysis and factual reporting to support quality.
- Highlight and address non-conformances promptly.
- Co-ordinate and report monthly QC meetings, promoting continuous improvement.
- Manufacturing Processes
- Review quality processes for cost-effective, efficient methods, recommending improvements.
- Ensure compliance and competency checks against SOPs.
- Review production scheduling and flushing controls daily.
- Ensure QC documentation meets required standards.
- Coordinate regular training for operators on new and updated procedures.
- HACCP
- Manage all aspects of the HACCP system, ensuring it remains current and effective.
- Provide adequate training to operators to ensure tasks are completed correctly.
- Complaints Management
- Manage complaints from logging and investigation to corrective actions and customer communication.
- Analyse complaints and drive effective action plans for improvement.
- Hygiene and Site Standards
- Conduct regular site audits with effective action plans for improvement.
- Support team-driven actions to improve site standards.
- Manage Pest Control and site cleaning team.

- Support business development and projects through effective teamwork and information sharing.
- Carry out reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager or Director.
Criteria:
- Degree in a relevant subject (food or agricultural preferred).
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role within a feed or food environment.
- Knowledge and experience of HACCP.
- Skilled in Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving techniques.
- Understanding of risk-based quality management systems.
- Proven ability to drive and uphold quality standards.
- Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Initiative, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer-focused approach.
- Full driving licence with access to a car.
