This role involves the collection of household and commercial waste and/or recyclables, ensuring timely and efficient removal to designated disposal or recycling facilities.
About the Role: As a Refuse Collector, you will work as part of a small team, servicing a different local area each day. This physically active position requires the ability to work quickly and involves a lot of walking outdoors, and be courteous to members of the public as this is a public-facing role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Move bags, wheelie bins, and recycling containers
- Operate lifting mechanisms to empty bins into the vehicle
- Load waste and recyclable materials manually into the lorry
- Sort recyclables at the kerbside
- Assist the driver with navigation and safety
- Report collection issues or obstructions
- Unload waste at designated sites
- Record waste volumes collected
Requirements:
- Good physical fitness and stamina
- Ability to work well in a team
- Punctual and reliable
- Professional and polite when dealing with the public
