We’re looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking Quality Manager to take ownership of the quality function at our Blackburn site. This is a critical leadership role overseeing compliance, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Location: Blackburn
Salary: £48,000–£50,000 per annum
Reporting to: Technical Manager
Responsible for: Quality Co-ordinators
Purpose of the Role: Lead and develop the site’s quality team and systems, ensuring full compliance with standards (including ISO and BRC), maintaining product integrity, and enhancing performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Systems & Compliance:
- Develop and maintain integrated quality systems for all goods and processes
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and customer requirements
- Operate and improve the Quality Management System
- Prepare for and host customer and certification audits
- Co-ordinate and conduct scheduled internal audits
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business
- Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Implement corrective actions for non-conformities and complaints
- Chair Management Review Meetings (MRM) and HACCP meetings
- Attend and contribute to weekly Quality and Tooling meetings
- Investigate customer complaints and maintain the complaints database
- Communicate effectively with teams and customers to resolve quality issues
- Visit customers to support issue resolution as required
- Support vendor development and selection to ensure supplier quality
- Lead, mentor, and manage the quality team to achieve business objectives
- Plan resources effectively and monitor KPIs
- Promote a quality-first, data-driven culture
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with other departments
- Work safely and ensure your team complies with all company safety procedures
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience in continuous improvement (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)
- Hands-on, pragmatic approach with strong decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and influencing abilities
- Confident under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Numerate and computer literate
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience in injection moulding (desirable)
- Proven ability to take ownership of actions and deliver results
