We’re looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking Quality Manager to take ownership of the quality function at our Blackburn site. This is a critical leadership role overseeing compliance, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Location: Blackburn

Salary: £48,000–£50,000 per annum

Reporting to: Technical Manager

Responsible for: Quality Co-ordinators

Purpose of the Role: Lead and develop the site’s quality team and systems, ensuring full compliance with standards (including ISO and BRC), maintaining product integrity, and enhancing performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Systems & Compliance:
  • Develop and maintain integrated quality systems for all goods and processes
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and customer requirements
  • Operate and improve the Quality Management System
  • Prepare for and host customer and certification audits
  • Co-ordinate and conduct scheduled internal audits
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business
    • Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis
    • Implement corrective actions for non-conformities and complaints
    • Chair Management Review Meetings (MRM) and HACCP meetings
    • Attend and contribute to weekly Quality and Tooling meetings
  • Customer & Supplier Relations:
    • Investigate customer complaints and maintain the complaints database
    • Communicate effectively with teams and customers to resolve quality issues
    • Visit customers to support issue resolution as required
    • Support vendor development and selection to ensure supplier quality
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage the quality team to achieve business objectives
    • Plan resources effectively and monitor KPIs
    • Promote a quality-first, data-driven culture
    • Build strong cross-functional relationships with other departments
  • Health & Safety:
    • Work safely and ensure your team complies with all company safety procedures

    Person Specification:

    • Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment
    • Strong leadership and people management skills
    • Experience in continuous improvement (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)
    • Hands-on, pragmatic approach with strong decision-making skills
    • Excellent communication and influencing abilities
    • Confident under pressure and to strict deadlines
    • Numerate and computer literate
    • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
    • Experience in injection moulding (desirable)
    • Proven ability to take ownership of actions and deliver results
