Job Title: HGV Fitter
Location: Colchester
Salary: Β£35,000 – Β£44,000
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Fitter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to a high standard, ensuring their safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a variety of HGVs, including diagnostics, electrical, and mechanical work.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Carry out pre-inspection checks and report any defects or issues.
  • Work with the workshop manager to plan and prioritise tasks.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet the required legal and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
  • Assist with breakdown repairs when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an HGV Fitter, Technician, or Mechanic.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds or NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license (Category C or C+E preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of work.

Desirable:

  • Experience with a variety of HGV makes and models.
  • Knowledge of MOT testing procedures.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a fleet maintenance environment.
