Location: UK Wide with frequent travel
Salary: Market Related
Role Purpose:
To achieve budgets and targets for designated accounts. To maintain and develop existing and new customers. To be aware of and manage all activity within the designated accounts.
Minimum Requirements and Experience:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years' experience in Key Account Management or Business Development within a technical or industrial sales environment.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience leading and managing a sales or account management team.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales budgets and revenue growth.
  • Experience managing national customer accounts and commercial contracts.
  • Experience negotiating pricing, service agreements, and long-term customer contracts.
  • Strong understanding of sales forecasting, budgeting, CRM management, and customer engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Growth and Account Management:
  • Develop and implement strategic account growth and customer engagement plans.
  • Expand product penetration and geographical market coverage within targeted sectors.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including opportunity identification, quotation, negotiation, contract management, and after-sales support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers across allocated customer accounts.
  • Understand customer needs and develop tailored commercial solutions.
  • Promote new products, services, and value-added solutions to existing and prospective customers.
  • Lead the achievement of sales budgets, revenue targets, and profitability objectives across designated accounts.
  • Drive product mix strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage customer pricing within approved pricing and discount structures.
  • Negotiate and maintain customer service agreements in collaboration with Supply Chain, Commercial, and Service Delivery teams.
  • Ensure customer complaints are responded to promptly and resolved through the appropriate internal channels.
  • Support customer surveys and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attend customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions, and professional association functions to strengthen business relationships.
  • Deliver customer presentations, product demonstrations, and training where required.
Commercial and Performance Management:
  • Manage the overall commercial relationship for designated accounts, including:
    • Revenue growth
    • Profitability
    • Product mix
    • Pricing
    • Contract management
    • Payment performance
    • Project coordination
    • Customer satisfaction
    • CRM data integrity
    • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitor customer performance against agreed objectives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, reports, and account reviews within agreed deadlines.
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and support the Key Account Management team to achieve national sales objectives.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and communicate account progress against action plans and budgets.
  • Facilitate quarterly business review meetings with strategic customers.
  • Promote collaboration between Sales, Commercial, Supply Chain, Service Delivery, and other internal departments.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage territory planning to maximise customer coverage, productivity, and sales effectiveness.
CRM and Operational Excellence:
  • Ensure all customer interactions, opportunities, and action plans are accurately recorded and maintained within the CRM system.
  • Develop and maintain customer and product development plans in collaboration with Commercial and Market Sector teams.
  • Analyse sales data, customer trends, and market information to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
