We are seeking a highly organised and detail-driven Training Coordinator to support our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and assuring training and competency across a complex production environment, including composite manufacturing, GRP processes, CNC machining, and assembly. You will play a key role in ensuring all employees are trained, authorised, and competent to carry out their work safely and effectively, in line with standardised processes, quality requirements, and production plans. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is methodical, compliance-focused, and proactive in identifying and addressing training needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate training and competency across manufacturing processes, including composite and GRP lay-up, trimming, bonding, finishing, paint preparation, CNC machining, and assembly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date skills and versatility matrices across all manufacturing areas.
- Ensure all operatives are trained, assessed, and recorded against the correct processes and work instructions.
- Monitor skills coverage to maintain production capability and resilience across teams and shifts.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of standardised work practices.
- Ensure training aligns with current SOPs, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate retraining following process updates, engineering changes, or quality concerns.
- Work closely with the People team to support onboarding, inductions, and development of new starters and apprentices.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Health & Safety teams to prioritise training activity.
- Schedule training effectively to minimise disruption to production.
- Maintain audit-ready training records and track completion, refreshers, and certification expiry dates.
- Provide training evidence for audits and compliance requirements.
- Escalate any training gaps that may impact safety, quality, or delivery.
- Support improvements in time to competence, multi-skilling, and training effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development of structured training pathways and competency assessments.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Promote a positive team culture and support company values.
About You
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to composite manufacturing, GRP processes, CNC machining, or assembly operations.
- Experience coordinating training, competency frameworks, or skills matrices.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across shop floor and support functions.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel or similar tools for tracking and reporting.
- Understanding of standardised work or structured training processes is desirable.
- Train the Trainer, Coaching, or Mentoring qualifications would be advantageous.
