Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in developing and managing our supplier base, ensuring products and services consistently meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

About the Role

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will work closely with suppliers to ensure their systems, processes, and capabilities align with Swift's quality expectations.

You will be responsible for driving supplier performance, resolving quality concerns, conducting audits, and implementing corrective actions to ensure continuity of supply, material traceability, and product reliability.

Working alongside Manufacturing, Design, Logistics, and Purchasing teams, you will be instrumental in identifying root causes of supplier quality issues and implementing robust solutions using structured problem-solving methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage supplier performance to ensure products are delivered on time and to the required specification.
  • Work collaboratively with Logistics, Purchasing, Design, and Manufacturing teams to ensure supplier compliance with material and component specifications.
  • Review and approve supplier documentation as part of the APQP process.
  • Conduct and sign off ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Reports).
  • Lead supplier quality investigations, implementing containment actions and driving root cause analysis using 8D methodology.
  • Review Initial Supplier Questionnaires (ISQ) and assess supplier suitability from a quality perspective.
  • Conduct supplier audits and monitor action plans to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate supplier quality campaigns and on-site supplier activities where required.
  • Monitor and communicate supplier performance through Swift's supplier performance systems.
  • Analyse warranty data and manage supplier-related warranty concerns.
  • Recover supplier-related rework and quality costs where applicable.
  • Support internal audits in line with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Manage the Supplier Installation Audit process.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and KPI performance reporting.
  • Promote and uphold Swift's E. P. I. C. values and Health & Safety standards.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within a Quality Engineering role, ideally focused on Supplier Quality.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier quality processes and manufacturing environments.

  • Root Cause Analysis

  • APQP
  • PPAP
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Six Sigma principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

Desirable

  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
