About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within one of the UK's fastest-growing staycation businesses, helping to promote and embed a strong Safety First culture across the organisation.

Working within a high-volume, fast-paced operational environment, you will provide expert advice, guidance and support to managers and employees, ensuring health and safety remains at the forefront of all business activities.

You'll be responsible for maintaining compliance with UK health and safety legislation while driving continuous improvement across multiple operational sites.

Key Responsibilities

As our Health & Safety Officer, you will

  • Promote and embed a proactive Safety First culture throughout the organisation.
  • Support the Health & Safety Lead in implementing and maintaining the company's Health & Safety Management System, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor health and safety inspections, audits and action plans to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Produce monthly health and safety performance reports, analysing trends and making recommendations.
  • Monitor compliance with statutory and company health and safety systems, including accident and incident reporting, near-miss reporting, risk assessments and COSHH assessments.
  • Carry out regular workplace inspections and safety walks, providing practical guidance and recommendations to managers.
  • Support investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Identify workplace hazards and support initiatives to reduce risk and improve safety performance.
  • Build strong relationships across all departments to encourage engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Promote awareness of company policies, procedures and current UK health and safety legislation.
  • Support the organisation's TEAM SWIFT values by working collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.

About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, confident and passionate about workplace safety.

You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and have the ability to influence others to achieve positive health and safety outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma (or an equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification).
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a Health & Safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make practical, risk-based decisions.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using Health & Safety management systems.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Experience within construction, manufacturing or multi-site operational environments.
  • Full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel between sites when required.

You'll be supporting operational teams to balance commercial priorities with safe working practices, responding to incidents and emerging risks, influencing managers and colleagues, and ensuring the business continues to meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
