Swift Education are recruiting a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) at a Private Independent School in Richmond.

Provide tailored 1:1 support for a Year 5 student with DMD, ensuring they can fully access learning and school life. Assist with physical needs, mobility, and personal care where required. Work alongside teachers and therapists to adapt lessons, using technology and resources to meet the student's needs. Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction with peers. Ensure the classroom is a safe and inclusive environment.

About Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD): DMD is a progressive muscle-wasting condition that can affect mobility, learning, and overall physical health. Pupils may require mobility support, adapted seating, and help with transitions around school. Clear communication, patience, and understanding are essential to supporting the child's academic and social development.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children with physical disabilities, complex medical needs, or in SEN settings.
  • A compassionate, adaptable, and proactive approach.
  • Confidence in providing both academic and care-based support (training will be provided).
  • Ability to work closely with parents, therapists, and the wider school team.

Start: Immediate

Contract: Full-time through to July 2026

Pay: £105 - £115 per day
