Our client’s Technology function is seeking an experienced SAP Solution Lead to join their team on a permanent basis in London. Reporting into a senior SAP and Finance technology leader, you will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into clear, scalable, and sustainable solution designs. These designs will form the foundation for delivering effective technology solutions to business challenges. You will work closely with SAP functional and technical teams to shape end-to-end processes, ensuring that solutions are aligned with the wider enterprise architecture. This role has a strong focus on SAP platforms operating within a Centre of Excellence model. You will act as a trusted subject matter expert across multiple initiatives, working collaboratively with technology and business stakeholders. Success in this role requires strong influencing skills, a pragmatic mindset, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Work with SAP functional and technical teams to define standards, principles, and solution approaches within the SAP and Finance landscape.
- Research SAP technologies, trends, and architectural patterns to inform solution design.
- Assess project objectives, scope, priorities, and existing IT and business environments.
- Define and document high-level solution designs and architectural approaches.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with project and delivery leads to shape project plans, resourcing approaches, and cost estimates.
- Own solution architecture, ensuring quality, integrity, and alignment to agreed standards.
- Be accountable for delivering solutions that meet functional, non-functional, and architectural requirements.
- Leverage existing frameworks and reference architectures to move from current-state to target-state solutions.
- Evaluate non-functional requirements including performance, security, and testability.
- Produce high-level architecture artefacts covering components, integrations, data flows, and deployment models.
- Define transition and interim architecture states where required.
- Identify and document actions required to close gaps between current and target architectures.
- Participate in design and technical reviews to ensure solutions meet requirements and standards.
- Work closely with delivery teams, developers, project leadership, and enterprise architecture to ensure effective implementation.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices relevant to SAP environments.
Strong background in application and solution architecture across enterprise platforms. Experience working within complex, highly integrated system landscapes. Solid understanding of back-office and finance-related business processes. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to senior leadership. Experience working across multiple software delivery methodologies. Ability to operate effectively within large, matrixed organisations. Comfortable articulating trade-offs, risks, and design decisions to a wide audience.
