Storekeeper/Materials Management Assistant in Warwick

The successful candidate will be joining us at an exciting period of the delivery and development of the Materials Management team and Stores.

Main duties of the job:

• To receive and issue goods within a warehouse environment and assist in providing and monitoring an efficient and cost-effective Materials Management service across the wards and departments.
• Responsible for planning and delivering a comprehensive stock top-up service across allocated wards/departments, identifying required stock levels by analysing usage data and reviewing product/supplier options where needed.
• Check and receive goods of varying weight and size, arriving for departments and arrange for their distribution throughout the sites.
• Book in receipts on the Finance (Purchase Order) System and ensure paperwork is correctly filed.
• Liaise with wards/departments and arrange for the return of goods to suppliers if necessary.
• Undertake daily/weekly stock takes using supplied electronic equipment and updating a computerised ordering system.
• Implement and manage the Materials Management function at ward/department level to ensure continuous care of patients as per Company and Trust standards.
• Act as a primary contact for enquiries and issues around the service.
• Distribute, check and put away goods arriving from NHS Supply Chain to those wards and departments covered by the Materials Management team.
• Develop a sound knowledge of products and substitutes used on the ward.
• Continuously review stock levels and stock rationalisation based on analysis of usage on each individual ward area.
• Agree stock level and product suitability and costings with ward/departments and report all savings achieved to the Head of Stores & Supply Chain.
• Develop and improve relationships between the Procurement department and ward staff.
• Liaise with NHSSC regarding delivery arrangements and returns including shortages, discrepancies, damaged goods.
• Demonstrate and train others within the department for stores and materials management services functions.
• Take responsibility for the security of goods from point of receipt and ensure stock is put away in a timely manner.
• Manage enquiries via generic email boxes, phone calls and staff coming directly to stores.

Person specification:

• Qualifications: Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; GCSE Math and English Grade 4+ or equivalent; NVQ level 3 or experience working in a Store’s environment; Handling & Moving Qualification or working towards.
• Experience: Experience in Stores Environment; Ability to communicate effectively with Stakeholders; Experience in handling & moving heavy roll cages; Experience of stock control/materials management systems within the NHS.
• Skills: Good numeracy skills; Understanding of a warehouse environment; Knowledge of Materials management processes & procedures and use of data capture and ordering systems; Knowledge of Inventory Management Systems and issues.
• Personal Qualities: Dependable, flexible and trustworthy; Ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure; Good team worker; Confident, friendly & approachable.
• Other: Physically fit; Able to undertake lifting and handling of goods over most of the day; An ability to maintain confidentiality and trust; Professional appearance; Skilled in the movement of handling & storage of goods; Have access to independent means of transport.
