Job Summary

We require a caring and enthusiastic individual to work part time as a Domestic Assistant within the Facilities team. The role involves undertaking cleaning duties either early morning or early evening outside of clinical activity. This post will be based at Ellen Badger Hospital, working 3 hours per day Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality domestic service to patients, staff, and visitors while maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with specifications.
  • Undertake all work in line with health, safety, security, Trust policies and procedures, including infection control.
  • Work in environments that may expose you to sensitive circumstances or unpleasant conditions.
  • Effectively clean and maintain hygiene standards within designated areas and their facilities.
  • Adhere to work schedules, using appropriate cleaning methods to meet service level agreements and quality standards.
  • Collect and safely remove non‑clinical and clinical waste in line with company procedures and Trust policies.
  • Safely store and maintain appropriate stock and supplies so that they are available as required.
  • Assist with meal services and be responsible for beverage services to the required standard.
  • Ensure confidentiality, privacy, and dignity at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and company policy.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner while on Trust and company premises.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant legislation and company handbooks.
  • Secure areas after cleaning as required and manage keys securely.
  • Use mechanical and electrical equipment in a correct and safe manner following training (trolleys, cleaning equipment).
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and tidy appearance in line with uniform and hand‑care guidelines.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, performance reviews, job chats, return‑to‑work discussions, and cooperate with accident and other investigations.
  • Engage in personal development and training needs identification and attend training programmes.
  • Report any faults or defects to Trust or Company equipment or premises immediately.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably requested within the grade of the post.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Self‑motivated with a flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to clean in other departments if required.
  • Previous experience is an advantage but not essential; full training will be provided.
  • Key role in enhancing patient care and experience through a clean, comfortable environment and friendly presence.
