The Pharmacy Manager provides substantial operational leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and financially sustainable delivery of pharmacy services. The postholder will be directly leading and developing the UHCW outpatient pharmacy team, setting clear performance expectations and embedding robust standards that promote safe, high-quality patient care and full regulatory compliance.
Main duties of the job include:

- Taking responsibility for day-to-day service management, coordinating operational workflows, resolving issues proactively, and maintaining effective working relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.

Job responsibilities:
- Manage the pharmacy business to maximise its profitability in line with annual budgets and KPIs.
- Control costs and ensure all colleagues operate in line with business requirements and initiatives.
- Ensure the pharmacy complies with GPhC standards and other relevant guidance.
- Ensure all colleagues comply with operational guidance, SOPs and company policies.
- Ensure compliance with national NHS and local service contractual requirements and all other legal requirements.
- Adhere to stock control principles and policies, driving down stock holding to maintain optimised stock levels.
- Forward plan and manage all business activity to ensure timely completion of required actions.

- Contribute to periodic reviews with the Trust Head of Pharmacy and Managing Director.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:
- Accuracy Checking Technician qualification for 2 years or more.
- Proven successful experience in a managerial role of similar background.
- Capability to lead pharmacy team effectively and strategically.
- Confidence in leadership skills to set a positive working environment.
- Ability to accurately gather, interpret, and analyse information.
- Strong numerical analysis, critical reasoning, and effective decision-making capabilities.
- Effective prioritisation and organisation of tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to provide robust information governance practices.

Person Specification:
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
- GCSE at Grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent.
- UK Pharmacy dispensing accreditation and experience.
- Accredited Management course.
- Accredited information governance course.
Experience in managing stock control within pharmacy is essential.
Skills required include understanding of professional regulations relevant to pharmacy operations and NHS contractual requirements.
Personal qualities include knowledge of their own area of responsibility, professionalism, integrity, and supportiveness towards others.
