Position Summary In this role, you’ll manage procurement tasks such as purchase orders, inventory oversight, and ensuring the smooth operation of the open order book with over 200 suppliers. Your attention to detail will ensure accurate ERP system updates, running MRP, and your proactive communication will be key in driving timely deliveries and minimizing supply chain risks. You\’ll stay informed on market trends, work with vendors, and ensure compliance with customs processes and inbound freight terms in accordance with HM Customs & Excise regulations. Main duties and responsibilities Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, working closely with senior Buyers. Manage purchase orders, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement. Negotiate favorable terms with vendors to establish win-win partnerships. Research and recommend new suppliers to optimize the supply chain. Oversee the open order book for selected suppliers, ensuring on-time delivery. Monitor and escalate past due purchase orders to resolve delays. Preempt stock-outs by proactively managing key items. Communicate risks of backorders promptly to minimize penalties. Contribute to process improvements for procurement efficiency. Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional projects. Participate in special projects as needed. Review and reconcile supplier invoices accurately. This role focuses on driving results, process optimization, and fostering strong supply chain relationships to support business success. Effective time management skills in a fast-paced setting. Proven ability to work under pressure. Strong teamwork, initiative, and independence. At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent. Manufacturing experience, preferably with raw materials. 1-3 years purchasing experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent planning, prioritization, and customer service skills. Desirable Experience & Qualifications Additional purchasing experience in manufacturing or construction. CIPS qualification or studying towards it.
