Due to continued demand, we are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team and support the Tax Director in delivering high-quality tax compliance and advisory services.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role, ideal for someone who enjoys managing their own portfolio, working closely with clients, and being part of a collaborative and supportive practice environment.
The Role
As Tax Manager, you will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring compliance work is completed accurately and on time. You will also support the Tax Director with advisory projects, tax planning and more complex client matters.
You will act as a key point of contact for clients, build strong relationships, and provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients
- Prepare and review personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current UK tax legislation
- Prepare and/or review a range of tax compliance filings, including:
- Capital Gains Tax returns
- Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings returns
- Employment Related Securities returns
- P11D forms
- Support the Tax Director on advisory projects, including tax planning and structuring
- Act as a main point of contact for clients, responding to queries accurately and promptly
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Review work prepared by junior team members
- Provide guidance, support and mentoring to junior staff
- Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients
- Manage workflows effectively and ensure all deadlines are met
About You
We are looking for someone with strong tax experience gained within an accountancy practice. You may be qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience.
You will be confident managing your own portfolio, comfortable dealing directly with clients, and able to work accurately in a deadline-driven environment.
Essential Requirements
- Strong experience in a tax role within an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation
- Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience
- 5+ years’ accountancy practice experience
- Proven ability to manage a client portfolio independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Comfortable liaising with clients and HMRC
