You will be responsible for supporting business development, managing projects and training/supporting the team to build their skills and capabilities. You will be an integral part of the Sweco Carbon Team influencing and contributing towards our sustainability strategy, seeking new opportunities and helping to develop this business area, e.g. through writing costed proposals, helping to keep Sweco at the forefront of the low-carbon sector, being a conduit for wider sustainability services and being a principal point of contact for some clients.

  • Supporting and undertaking detailed embodied and whole life carbon assessments on a range of infrastructure and buildings projects
  • Producing technical design deliverables (calculations, drawings, assessments, etc) to achieve low carbon solutions
  • Clearly and concisely report results, including contributions to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Climate chapters
  • Supporting clients with carbon reporting and decarbonisation strategies
  • Engaging with stakeholders, internally and externally, to build knowledge on climate, carbon and net zero
  • Supporting training and knowledge sharing with junior staff, and working with other Sweco Teams to integrate carbon processes within their disciplines

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Experience delivering carbon management services for a range of project types across the built environment
  • Experience supporting businesses to embed carbon/climate strategies within their organisations
  • Have expert knowledge of climate change science, targets and policy
  • Extensive knowledge of carbon management methodologies and standards such as PAS 2080, RICS Professional Statement for WLC, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14064
  • Experience producing Climate assessments for Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Understand the role of climate change prevention in a wider sustainability context
  • Be able to demonstrate your commitment to carbon reduction
  • Knowledge of climate change adaptation, circular economy, offsetting strategies and low-carbon finances is also desirable

Professional Membership and Qualifications:

  • Degree and relevant masters in carbon-related subject (preferred)
  • Chartered member of relevant professional institute or working towards chartership

Personal Qualities:

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Inquisitive, enthusiastic, diligent and determined
  • Able to create content with strong report writing and communication skills
  • Highly numerate with analytical skills, able to use Excel and other similar tools
  • Able to organise and prioritise own workload to ensure that timescales are met
  • Good problem solving/contingency planning skills with ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions
