We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer who will provide technical leadership for the electrical discipline within the @one Alliance. The role involves reviewing designs, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards, coaching junior engineers, and contributing to the development of sustainable, low‑carbon electricity solutions for large capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Report regularly to the Discipline Head.
  • Collaborate with Principal Engineer, Portfolio Design Managers and Project Design Managers to acquire upcoming project milestones and design review dates.
  • Check specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings and 3‑D models to ensure quality, safety and technical standards.
  • Coach and mentor junior and less experienced members of the electrical team.
  • Review construction site and supply‑chain design queries and change requests to ensure accurate and timely responses.
  • Participate in Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning strategy meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer and Design Managers to implement potential improvements.
  • Liaise with other departments and project teams regarding design requirements.
  • Manage quality through the design workflow review in line with the project timeline.
  • Support other leads and discipline engineers to deliver outputs to time and quality standards.
  • Drive sustainability and low‑carbon designs and promote off‑site build, modular construction, and repeatable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent, preferably Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
  • Experience with water‑sector assets and capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience with junior engineers.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
