We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Civil Engineer to join our design team in Leeds as part of a multi-disciplinary department providing detailed designs for water related projects in the UK. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times.

Our water teams have a global knowhow of industry leading technologies and are providing skills and inventive solutions across the full spectrum of lifecycle services in both water engineering and wider water management. These abilities are recognised by our clients, evidenced not least in our work on AMP7 Frameworks with 7 out of the 12 UK water and sewerage companies.
We’ll support you to develop your technical expertise so that you can become a real difference maker and develop sustainable and innovative solutions to address these issues. You’ll join a growing team of Engineers working together towards the best client outcomes.
We are looking for individuals who can challenge conventional thinking and work collaboratively to meet a wide range of business, environment and regulatory challenges for these clients. The role offers an opportunity for successful candidates to broaden and diversify their expertise.
What does the role involve?
- Working within our water team on multi-disciplinary projects, you will act as a Design Engineer and undertake the delivery of design solutions and associated outputs and the co-ordination with other disciplines.
- You will be involved in projects from conception to completion including:
- Support team members to clarify the project brief, agree deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, quality assurance and control strategy.
- Undertake elements of the detailed design as directed: e.g. calculations, drawings, sketches and reports to achieve the optimum solution for the project.
- Assessing, documenting and communicating design changes to team members and being aware of work requirements and taking personal responsibility in delivering this to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
- Attend “close out meeting” and recommend/implement improvements to policy, processes and project management methods.
What We’re Looking For From You
- A relevant degree and be working towards or plan to work towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution e.g. ICE or CIWEM.
- Strong interpersonal/team working skills, with a good working relationship with all levels of the organisation, clients and contractors together with the ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner both verbally and written.
- Knowledge and experience of water and wastewater design including an understanding of the basics and the integration of multidisciplinary elements including process engineering and MEICA.
- Experience in design, contract and tender preparation, tender assessment and contract administration.
