We’re Europe’s leading design, engineering, environment and regulatory consultancy and we’re now recruiting for Building Control Apprentices to join us this summer/Autumn. Sweco Building Control is one of the leading Building Control consultancies in England and Wales, having provided client‑focused expertise since 1998. As a Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA), we directly employ around 100 Registered Building Inspectors (RBIs) across the UK.

What does the role involve? During your time as an Apprentice, you will spend 80% of your time on project work and 20% on studying. You will work on landmark projects and schemes of all shapes and sizes, learning from experienced people and delivering technical excellence with the Building Regulation and Building Standards teams.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Have an interest and basic understanding of the construction industry and UK Building Regulations.
  • Have desire to learn, progress and challenge yourself.
  • Are able to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with clients and other team members and to produce written documents in clear English.
  • Possess 96 UCAS tariff points (or an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS tariff).
  • Have GCSE Grade C or 4 and above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Can work in the UK with no restrictions.
  • The role will involve a mixture of office based work and work visiting building sites. Having access to your own means of travel is beneficial, though not necessary. It would be expected that candidates would be able to drive by the end of their apprenticeship.
  • Be available to start in September 2026.
