What We Are Looking For
We are currently recruiting a talented and motivated Principal Fire Engineer to join our Building Safety team. This role can be worked flexibly, meaning at least 3 days per week either in the office or on site with the remaining days at home. We also offer the opportunity to flex your start and finish times. Working on projects across multiple sectors you will provide strategic fire safety advice across the built environment developments including commercial, residential, infrastructure and transportation. This role presents a real depth and breadth of some of our most exciting project schemes and the opportunity to work in a team of highly skilled, talented engineers.
Responsibilities
- Developing Fire Safety Strategies during Design and Construction stages.
- Preparing technical engineering analysis using relevant guidance documents and methods (prescriptive and performance based).
- Supporting the team in developing technical knowledge.
- Carrying out site visits when required.
- Attending internal and external meetings.
- Overseeing and managing projects from inception to completion.
- Liaising with clients on a daily basis.
Qualifications
- A degree in Fire Engineering or similar, membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or equivalent.
- Proven experience working in a similar role.
- Excellent all‑round up‑to‑date knowledge of Part B of the Building Regulations, Fire Safety Order and other relevant legislation and fire design guidance documents (e.g., BS9999, BS7479, BS9991, BB100 and HTM05).
- A proven background in fire safety engineering with an understanding of fire‑engineered solutions.
- Good problem‑solving/contingency planning skills with the ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit different audiences.
- Excellent consultancy, communication and relationship‑management skills.
