We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Hazard Study Facilitator to join our design team in Birmingham as part of a multi-disciplinary department providing detailed designs for water-related projects in the UK. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times. We will also consider part-time applications.

What does the role involve?
- Facilitate process safety hazard studies (HAZID, SWIFT, HazOp, ALMs) and structured risk assessments (LOPA, FMEA) to identify major hazards, evaluate safeguards, and determine risk reduction requirements.
- Develop and maintain process safety tools, templates, and best practice guidance to improve consistency and effectiveness of hazard studies and risk assessments.
- Ensure delivery of process safety studies and assessments in line with agreed scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Provide advice on compliance with relevant process safety regulations, standards, and industry guidance, ensuring consistent application across projects and operations.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers to support successful delivery of process safety activities.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to colleagues, supporting the development of less experienced engineers.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered status with the IMechE or IChemE (or equivalent).
- Extensive knowledge and experience of mechanical design for the water industry.
- Experience in the delivery of water designs and specifications on water related projects for Water Companies, Contractors and industry.
- An appreciation of the implications of works on the environment and knowledge of sustainable solutions, water and wastewater processes and health and safety legislation.
